Kate’s notes from Nigeria
I was surprised to find that the local men were wearing Aramis style fragrances to great effect. I had to follow a couple of them along the street just to experience the full effect and be able to memorise the fragrance details exactly. When I get back to the office I’ll explore further….
The markets were amazing! Very smelly – of most unpleasant things like sewers. But one fragrance overcame all of these odours – the local pineapple. This turned out to be quite different to any pineapple I had tried before. The flesh was a golden brown colour from the sugar caramelising in the hot sun. It melted, buttery in the mouth. So I have two things to pursue when I get home: a new take on pineapple perfumes and whether pineapple has a special ability to mask odours.
